In honor of Allan Blakeney's tenure on the SaskTel Board, and in recognition of his contribution to SaskTel, the A.E. Blakeney Bursary has been established in his name. The bursary is a fitting tribute to a man who has played a key role on the SaskTel Board of Directors during a time of unprecedented changes. The A.E. Blakeney Bursary will be awarded biannually in these years: 2004, 2006, 2008, 2010 and 2012.
The bursary is available to support an outstanding Saskatchewan student in his/her post-secondary studies.

Bursary total value is $40,000
- the bursary recipient will be awarded $10,000 annually for a period of four years
- annual payments will be dependent on the student maintaining an acceptable academic average, continued enrollment in one of the eligible fields of study, and continued demonstration of financial need.

Student Eligibility

Financial need: Must be in need of financial assistance in order to complete his/her studies. Needs assessment will be based on the Canada Student Loans formula.

High academic standing: Must be graduating or a graduate from a Saskatchewan high school with an academic standing of 80% or greater.

Saskatchewan resident: Must be a Saskatchewan resident, for a minimum of 12 months at time of application. Must be a Canadian citizen or Landed Immigrant (granted the right to live in Canada permanently by immigration authorities).

Full-time university student: Must be a full-time student, (enrolled in a minimum of 80 per cent of a full course load) entering a post-secondary program of at least four academic years at the University of Saskatchewan, University of Regina, or First Nations University of Canada. Preference will be given to those enrolled in Business/Commerce/Administration with major in Marketing or Accounting, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Technology.
In support of SaskTel’s Diversity strategy, preference will be given to students who are representatives of an employment equity group, defined as: visible minorities, women in non-traditional roles, people with disabilities or Aboriginal people. Aboriginal people include status and non-status First Nations, Métis and Inuit (proof of Aboriginal Ancestry is required – photocopy of Band/Treaty card; Métis Membership card; Inuit Beneficiary card).
