SaskTel prides itself on its Community involvement and as such, is pleased to provide support for a broad range of organizations, groups and people in their events across the province.
SaskTel actively supports dramatic productions, provincial concerts and other arts and culture programs throughout Saskatchewan. These programs encourage the people of Saskatchewan to explore their horizons, while emphasizing the creativity and artistic talent that this province has to offer. This is highlighted by our title sponsorship of the SaskTel Saskatchewan Jazz Festival since 1995. The SaskTel Saskatchewan Jazz Festival has grown to be one of the major jazz festivals in Western Canada and one of the most important summer cultural events in Saskatchewan. The SaskTel Saskatchewan Jazz Festival has continued to grow since its inception in 1995. The festival celebrated its 25th Anniversary in 2011 with approximately 80,000 people attending. Over the years the festival has seen performances from nationally and internationally acclaimed artists like of BB King, Colin James, K-Os and others. The popularity of the SaskTel Saskatchewan Jazz Festival has placed Saskatchewan on the national music scene.
Athletics are an important part of our everyday life; they bring people together and promote a healthy lifestyle. SaskTel echoes this claim by providing assistance to sporting events that portray Saskatchewan and its people in a positive light to the rest of the country. One of these events is the SaskTel Tankard, an event that SaskTel has been title sponsor of since 2003. The SaskTel Tankard is the premier curling event in Saskatchewan. It pits Saskatchewan’s top male curlers against one another in the Provincial Men’s Curling Championship, with the winner capturing a trip to the Brier to represent Saskatchewan.
Saskatchewan is a tight knit community, made up of those who are always willing to lend a helping hand. SaskTel is no exception. SaskTel has been involved with the Kinsmen Telemiracle since 1997. This yearly event, which is broadcast province-wide, raises money to assist people with special needs and those who require assistance accessing medical treatment. It is another example of SaskTel’s continuous dedication to providing support to the people of Saskatchewan.
SaskTel sponsors approximately 50 different conferences throughout the province on a yearly basis. From livestock conventions to music symposiums, these events bring together residents from throughout Saskatchewan and beyond. One such conference is the Saskatchewan Association of Rural Municipalities’(SARM) Annual Convention. This event has been taking place for over 100 years and brings together 1450 reeves, councilors and rural municipal administrators. It allows an opportunity for different companies, government agencies and special interest associations to meet the present decision-makers of rural Saskatchewan.
The young people of Saskatchewan are an integral piece of this province’s future growth and prosperity. With such a prominent role ahead for the children of Saskatchewan, SaskTel is delighted to provide support for various educational opportunities. Although SaskTel supports programs at each level of learning, our accomplishments are most notable through our Post-Secondary support. SaskTel is actively involved with the University of Regina and University of Saskatchewan supporting numerous events and activities at both educational institutions including U of R and U of S Orientation and Welcome Week Events.
SaskTel's diversity reflects that of the communities we serve. SaskTel is dedicated to valuing people for their uniqueness and individuality, respecting the ways in which we are different and similar. With this in mind, SaskTel ensures that we provide support to all community groups across Saskatchewan, especially those with an Aboriginal focus. Two events that SaskTel supports on a larger basis are the First Nations Summer and Winter Games and National Aboriginal Day. The First Nation Summer and Winter Games, held on alternate years, bring together 5,000 First Nation participants, to promote competition and growth. These games provide life long memories and instill pride in both the First Nation community and the Saskatchewan community at large. National Aboriginal Day is celebrated annually on June 21st. It presents Aboriginal peoples with an opportunity share their rich diverse cultures with their families, neighbors, friends and visitors by way of various events throughout the province.
