Professional Engineer

Engineers at SaskTel are typically located in Regina and Saskatoon. These professionals review corporate planning and network information and evaluate existing network elements and new technology options. They develop, maintain, and issue Network architecture plans, provide input into the development of network strategic plans and into the development of the capital and operating budgets.

Requirements:
Successful professional Engineers possess a university degree in electronics engineering or electronic information systems engineering, and the eligibility for membership in the Association of Professional Engineers of Saskatchewan. Preference is given to those with experience in telecommunications equipment and systems, plus knowledge of the planning process and economic cost studies. All candidates must possess good interpersonal skills, verbal and oral communication skills, and the ability to influence and deal effectively with others. Essential management skills and abilities required, for this position, include innovativeness, initiative, leadership, decision making and a high tolerance for stress.

 

Engineering Assistant

There are a number of Engineering Assistant positions within SaskTel, each having different job functions and duties. For example, an Engineering Assistant in Building Network and Design provides consulting services to the building construction industry to ensure provisions are made for telecommunication facilities. An Engineering Assistant in PC Business Solutions is responsible for designing, testing, implementing and maintaining all departmental applications and databases; while an Engineering Assistant in Provisioning will design the equipment required to maintain and enhance the SaskTel network and then coordinate its implementation.

Requirements:
Qualifications for Engineering Assistant positions vary, depending on the scope of the position. Education qualifications are a Diploma in Electronics, Electrical Engineering or Computer Science. All positions require individuals with strong organizational skills, good analytical and problem solving abilities, good verbal and written communication skills and the ability to deal effectively with others.
